Temu Coupon Code Not Working? The 7 Real Reasons (and Fixes)
Published · 5 min read
You grabbed a Temu coupon code, pasted it at checkout, and got hit with "invalid code." Frustrating — but in most cases the code itself is genuine and one of Temu's hidden conditions is quietly blocking it. These are the seven reasons it happens most often, and how to solve each one.
1. It's a first-order code
This accounts for the majority of failures. Temu's most generous codes — especially anything in the "$100 off" family — only activate for accounts with zero previous orders. One past purchase, even a tiny one from a year ago, and the code won't go through.
Fix: Search for codes that explicitly say they work for returning shoppers. We mark this clearly on our coupon page so you know before you try.
2. Your basket is below the minimum spend
Loads of codes carry a spending threshold — $10 off when you spend $30, that kind of thing. Temu doesn't always spell this out when the code bounces.
Fix: Open the coupon's details in the Temu app (under "Coupons & offers") and check the threshold. If you're just short, tossing in a small cheap item often pays for itself.
3. The code already expired
Temu rotates codes fast — faster than most coupon sites update. Event codes and app exclusives can die within a day or two. That code from last month's TikTok? Almost certainly gone.
Fix: Only trust sources that show a recent "last checked" date, and redeem codes as soon as you get them instead of saving them for later.
4. It's locked to the app (or the website)
Some codes only redeem on one channel. Temu pushes its biggest discounts into the app to drive installs, while a smaller pool is website-only.
Fix: Switch channels. In the app, head to "You" → "Coupons & offers" → "Enter code" and try again. You can also paste the code into the Temu search bar — certain promos trigger that way.
5. Category or seller restrictions
A code might cover only fashion, only Temu-fulfilled items (not marketplace sellers), or exclude anything already on sale. A single ineligible item in your basket can kill the whole code.
Fix: Test with a basket containing one full-price, Temu-shipped item. If the code works there, your cart contents were the problem — not the code.
6. Country restrictions
Codes are often tied to a specific market. A code shared by an American influencer typically won't work on a UK, European, or Moroccan account, even though the storefront looks identical.
Fix: Check that whoever shared the code mentions your country, and confirm your Temu region setting matches where you actually live.
7. Formatting errors
Temu codes aren't case-sensitive, but a hidden space at the start or end — very common when copying from a web page — will get the code rejected instantly.
Fix: Use a dedicated copy button instead of dragging to select text (our coupon page has one for exactly this reason), or type the code out manually.
Still no luck?
If you've eliminated all seven, the code has simply run its course. Temu codes churn quickly and most lists floating around the internet are badly out of date. Stick to pages that re-verify their codes often — and always glance at the "last checked" date before trusting any code, ours included.
