Using Temu Codes on the Website Instead of the App

Published · 3 min read

Rather shop on temu.com in a browser than in the app? Then you've likely noticed that certain codes redeem there while others bounce — despite both being "Temu." That's deliberate: Temu fences off some promotions for the app. Here's how to tell which is which, and what you can do about it.

Why Temu fences codes into the app

Temu's engine is its app: push alerts, daily check-ins, and games all drive repeat buying. Reserving the meatiest discounts for the app pushes downloads. Website shoppers get a smaller — but genuine — pool of working codes.

Applying a code on temu.com

  1. Build your cart on temu.com and proceed to checkout.
  2. Find the "Promo code" or "Coupon code" box — it sits near the order summary, sometimes tucked behind an "Apply coupon" link.
  3. Paste the code in (watch out for stray spaces — they trigger rejections) and hit Apply.
  4. The discount shows in your total before payment. If the number didn't move, the code didn't take.

What redeems on the website

What stays locked in the app

If your code is app-only

You don't have to walk away from the discount. Install the app, sign in with the same account (cart and coupons sync across), then go to "You" → "Coupons & offers" → "Enter code" and redeem it there. Also worth trying: type the code straight into the app's search bar — some promos activate through search instead of checkout. Once it's applied to your account, you can return to shopping on the website with the discount already in place.
